Here are some tips from Xis.in :
Here are some simple steps on how to protect your online accounts, online files, private photos and more :
1. Never use the same password for all of your accounts! Never use your e-mail password as a password for your Facebook, Friendster, MySpace etc and other sites.
2. Strengthen your Paypal, Moneybookers & Xoops passwords! Use special characters, spaces, capital letters, do EVERYTHING to make your password strong, but please have the ability to remember it
. Dont use your e-mail password to be your paypal password.
3. Use the On-Screen Keyboard when entering your passwords! If you are running on a Windows Operating system, go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Accessibility > On-Screen Keyboard. Using on-screen keyboard instead of your actual keyboard is safer because ‘key loggers’ cant record what you are currently centering using on-screen keyboard.
4. If you have an account on any social networking sites, do not upload any private photos! So let’s say that you have accidentally uploaded a very private photo on your Friendster account, well because it’s very private you’ve decided to delete it. How sure are you that whenever you delete a photo on your profile it will be actually GONE FOREVER? How sure are you that it has been deleted into their main root server? - 0%! So for your own good, do not upload a photo that you might regret uploading for the rest of your lives!
5. Do not attract SPIES & STALKERS! One way of seducing those two particular group is by feeding them with lots of personal information. And by that I’m talking again about social networking sites. All of the information you stored on those sites can be seen by people around the world, and if you DONT wanna be followed by stalkers or spies, do not input any personal information such as address, phone number, official e-mail and more.
